Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

  1. CNN and MSNBC don’t seem to have a lot up yet.  Reports are coming in that the shelling is still going as of right now: 12:57am Mountain Time here. About 5pm there. Death toll is going up as reports come in, though, to be fair, those may be inflated. There are civilian as well as military casualties so far.

Pretty much give Glenn Beck’s right nut, and probably his left too, for some grizzly’s Rocky Mountain Oyster Plate, to be a fly on the wall in Beijing right now. Or DC at Strategic Air Command.

  2. This kind of reaction from NK isn’t exactly unusual. They torpedoed a SK ship in the same area in March. The NK didn’t like the South holding naval exercises in the area. It would have been seen as an attempt to intimidate. A natural response is to blow things up to prove you aren’t intimidated. At least, it’s natural for NK.

  3. …to get some deeper insight into what is happening.

Yes, we have prosperity. Yes, we have a strong president, economy, and military. Yes there is alot to lose and nothing to gain from World War.

But today marked the beginning of a new chapter in Global History. A chapter of war.  South Korea will not simply ignore the shelling of their island . North Korea will not back down. The 60 year truce has ended.

Today. Is the Beginning of World War III.

Motor Trend took Mr. Limbaugh to task regarding the Chevy Volt as 2011 car of the year. hehehehe:

So, Mr. Limbaugh; you didn’t enjoy your drive of our 2011 Car of the Year, the Chevrolet Volt? Assuming you’ve been anywhere near the biggest automotive technological breakthrough since … I don’t know, maybe the self-starter, could you even find your way to the front seat? Or are you happy attacking a car that you’ve never even seen in person?

    snip

But, harrumph. In its attempt to force cars that don’t use much gas on us – how un-American/un-ExxonMobil/un-Halliburton is that? –  the Obama administration is offering a $7,500 tax credit on the Chevy Volt, grabbing tax breaks and credits right out of the deserving, job-creating pockets of America’s richest individuals. How dare he? [the next paragraph is great but I didn’t want to get carried away]

    snip

You’ve made two king’s ransoms by convincing legions of dittoheads to tune into you every day. I wonder, do you ever ride in anything that’s not German or Anglo-Saxon? Do you have any idea how powerful IG Metal is, and of the size of Germany’s social safety net?

    The piece ends thusly:

If you can stop shilling for your favorite political party long enough to go for a drive, you might really enjoy the Chevy Volt. I’m sure GM would be happy to lend you one for the weekend. Just remember: driving and Oxycontin don’t mix.
