I originally wrote this almost a year ago… but since we’ve got a bunch of new peeps and I am very lazy this moment, I thought I would repost it.
With the recent spate of high profile and not-so high profile gay teen suicides this fall its clear that something needs to be done.
LGBTQ youth are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than straight teens. Trying to rally against these troubling trends is the mandate of the It Gets Better Project.
Many LGBT youth can’t picture what their lives might be like as openly gay adults. They can’t imagine a future for themselves. So let’s show them what our lives are like, let’s show them what the future may hold in store for them.
I encourage you visit the It Gets Better Project and:
JOIN OUR MOVEMENT – TAKE THE PLEDGE: Everyone deserves to be respected for who they are. I pledge to spread this message to my friends, family and neighbors. I’ll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work. I’ll provide hope for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and other bullied teens by letting them know that “It Gets Better.”
