Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Moose-A-Thon

Photobucket

Given my background in public radio – working at listener supported radio stations, I got used to doing on air fund-raising drives which we called Marathons.

But since this is not public radio, and we are here at the Moose, I figgered I’d dub this a mini Moose-a-thon.

Nobody gets paid here.

Well, not in money. We earn Moosie enjoyment.

Since I’m the last of the big time spenders (and poor) I am kicking this off with a big donation of 10 bucks.

Yup. It won’t break my budget.

I will delay my chocolate cravings and give up two chocolate moose this week.

So why am I posting this?

The Moose is a place where we are gathered to enjoy each others company, express ideas, and political thoughts. You already know that cause you are here.

But it really isn’t free. It has a teeny tiny budget to pay for web hosting space every month, and those of us who hang around here kick in a few bucks to keep it running. When we remember.  Or get nudged.

I came here originally to find a place that was not MyDD. There were Elder Moose on that website, who recognized my frustration during the primary wars and they threw me a life line.

I came.  I stayed.

I also went to DKos, and am still there. DKos is sort of like Grand Central Station in NYC (to me), except for the Black Kos front porch which is cozier.

The Moose reminds me of a pond here upstate NY where I live…slower paced, more time to share ideas and less noise and frantic activity.

So if you like the Moosey ambiance, and are planning on staying around, if you have some moola to spare, click the button on the right side of the page that says “Donate“.

Y’all can take this as a nudge.

which is what the current price of two shares of Microsoft stock would cost.

Now Moose Mgt. can go to the next shareholder’s meeting, tell everyone that they own multiple shares of Microsoft stock, and demand an Internet Explorer fix for The Motley Moose!

Thanks DeniseVelez, I second your thoughts and appreciation of this fine establishment.

  2. Who can resist the Moosey smile at the top of this post?

    In with a few fins.

    p.s.

TURN OFF THE ADS, TECHNOMOOSE!! I MISS MY FRIENDS!!!!

    😉

I love to lurk this place, even though I’m far to the right of most of the folk here. Better dialogue and more accepting; even posting a comment out of line with the consensus at most of the places I used to hang, like RedState and such, is an instaban. Here, ya’ll may not agree with me, but damn it, we can still have a conversation.

…because that’s all I can afford right now. (I turn in a large invoice next week; then I can do more.)

But I do enjoy this place. Srsly.

    Moose are nice.

(Thanks for doing this, Dee.)  🙂

all the mooses who welcomed the orange superstorm that’s washed over this place the past month (as well as the precursor storm from fall 2011). Must be like a quiet local pub after a new high rise apartment went in down the street.  Anyway, y’all have been very gracious hosts, and I’m hoping we’re blending in okay (rather than living the old saw about visitors and fish).  For me, this place has been

i’ll report back about the amount we will be giving then.  everything’s needing fixing around the house, some plumbing, a desktop’s graphic card just died, some computer chairs (one just died).  i can put off my craft table for another month or so so maybe that $$ can got to the moose.

I’ve posted more, shared more here since my Jan 6th joining date, than I have in over a year at the other place. And that includes a couple of diaries for Kelley’s Kosabilities!

Thank you for kindness, thank you for the civility and proof that it is possible to disagree and still call each other friend.

so will someone donate a small sum in my stead? If I’ve ever said anything that you valued or did anything that helped, I would feel grandly repaid by a small Moose donation.

I think I’ve been here about two years now. Great place (my favorite spot online, really).

to Denise for writing this. It was needed.

Also wanted to give heartfelt thanks to all those, “new” moose and “old,” who are contributing right now. Especially since I can’t give again for a while, due to… uhhhhh, a LOT of things actually. So a tremendous thank you to all who are able to contribute funds… but also a huge thank you to those who — donating $$$ or not — contribute to this blog with your fabulous thoughts, opinions, stories, prose, poetry, biographies, analysis, and insight.

The Moose is a rich place indeed… if our wealth can be measured by the quality of its members.

You guys make me feel warm and fuzzy. 😉

PS. Denise, I’m so sorry about your dog. It’s a heart-breaking decision to make. Pets are family, and losing a pet is always a rough blow. Warmest thoughts being sent your way.
