The Making Location

Welcome to the Motley’s Moose’s Weekly Gathering for all things made by us!  No matter your methods, you may share!  

I have 3 knitting projects on needles, one swatched, and one abandoned one to pick up.  

Also, brownies are coming out of the oven right now.

Here is the word of the day: Belagan:

Noun 1. balagan – a word for chaos or fiasco borrowed from modern Hebrew (where it is a loan word from Russian); “it was utter and complete balagan!”

What is one of the most difficult intellectual endeavors on the Planet? Trying to figure out the politics of the Middle East. Nothing but nothing about this area is clear and nothing but nothing about this area makes a ton of sense. Into this fray – the President Obama steps. Living up to a campaign promise made during his first term the President will be heading to the Middle East to visit both the Israelis and Palestinian leadership (well the P.A. part of it)

Of course, in typical fashion for anything in the Middle East, nothing about this visit seems to make sense. One side (the Americans) state that the visit is for the President to “strengthen the bonds between Israel and the U.S.”, One side (the Palestinians) are insisting that the U.S. visit be used to “pressure” the Israelis into halting the settlement process and force the Israelis to negotiate with him for a State and finally One side (the Israelis), are saying that that the President is both coming with a plan and a proposal for a summit between the Israelis and Palestinians AND Not coming with anything (is this a surprise to anyone?)

Thursday Coffee Hour: Coming Attractions

Welcome to Thursday Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is going on in your life. I was muttering to myself the other morning as I scraped ice off of my windshield that if I wanted to scrap ice off I would have stayed in Chicago. I moved to North Carolina thinking it would be warm. In spite of its name it is still in the South. So for everyone still dealing with ice and snow I thought I’d give you something to look forward too. Spring flowers.

 

Lounge: playing around with Quipio

There’s a new social app (just what we need!) called Quipio. It lets you combine a picture with words. It reminds me of Haiku Deck with the additional limit of a single frame. I’ve had fun playing around with it and thought I’d share a few here – if you’re curious join me over the fold –  

The Daily F Bomb, Thursday 2/7/13

Good morning, Bombadillos! I ache fiercely all over from yesterday’s workout, but it’s a good ache. Nothing a coffee/Advil cocktail won’t cure.

Interrogation time! Did you have strict parents or permissive ones? Did you behave or did you rebel and/or take advantage of their good nature? Pigeons: Rats with wings or a valued and wonderful bird?  How much do you usually leave for a tip? After family, pets, and photos, what would you save in a fire? What trait did you inherit from your parents that one does not usually considered inheritable (for instance, I have the smart-ass gene)?
