Hi, it’s me again, raising money for AIDS Walk Austin again. Yes, it actually is that time of year already. This is the 26th year for the Walk, and I’m walking for the 26th time. This year, AIDS Services of Austin helped me make a video, so come into the main diary & see it.
So I have a 20 second video, about why I walk. (spoiler – I walk because this raises money that directly assists people)
There’ll be more info about all the beneficiary agencies later, but for now I’ll tell you about the first one:
Founded in 1987, AIDS Services of Austin is the region’s oldest and largest community-based organization addressing the local AIDS crisis. Annually, ASA provides direct care services to over 1,500 people and HIV prevention education to over 10,000 people.
Last year was the 25th year and since I had done it every time the great people at ASA made me a sash! Here’s a picture of me after the walk, in my sash, with Paul Scott, the executive director:
and just so you’ll know it’s me, here’s a U2 video – City of Blinding Lights. This is the song I play in my head when I’m doing a triathlon (did I tell you I do triathlons?), because it makes me think I can do impossible things.
and the purple version of this diary gets a bonus video, this has been my earworm for several days but it is too drift-y for a back-to-work Monday (also it isn’t really a video, just some pictures a fan put with the song, but it’s all I could find)
