Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo iz-dis-fing-on_zpsa847a99a.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Headed for a high of 74. It’s supposed to be in the 80s the rest of the week, though.

    Happy Monday, Meeses!

Today, I’m actually glad that I will be too otherwise occupied at work to hang out on the internets. I could use the distraction from the news of our government at ‘work’.

  2. It is 47 degrees in Madison WI and the expected high is 75 degrees. Pretty close to perfect.

I have things to do today but nothing that should keep me completely off the Internets. Although I thought that last Monday and then all hell broke loose.

Today is the last day of September … tomorrow is October 1st. I am interested to see how Fox News spins the fact that the government is shut down but that the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace is open. What happens if they out-and-out lie and tell people that Obamacare has been delayed? We live in interesting times.

on cup number 2 of coffee …procrastinating…have papers to grade, housework to do… BKos to write, and don’t feel like doing anything.

    Must be a Monday thing.

Sleeves this morning & glad to have them. I still wore sandals, because wearing shoes again takes gradual introduction. This is the weather we paid for in July & August: 60s to 80s (ok, upper 80s, but still). The rain this weekend was glorious. No more for a while, sadly. But it was great while it lasted.

Our speaker at church Friday night has a story about the Ramones, and Sunday my pastor said that he had never listened to them. So Sunday afternoon, I tagged him in a FB post & put up some Ramones tunes: Sedated (of course), Rock n Roll HighSchool… a couple of others, and the one that was in every political mixtape I made in the 80s, Bonzo Goes to Bitburg. So today my earworm keeps switching around from Snow Patrol to the Ramones. Kinda weird.

Eye twitch was better over the weekend – the page Bob linked for me has several things that help. For allergies, I’ve switched to Benadryl, but the first dose isn’t helping much.

Have no idea what the rest of the week will be like as on weekends we don’t seem to get weather forecasts–footbore takes over the telly.

We had a wonderful time while away. Seattle, away from the poison of Wall Street in New York and the House here in Washington, seemed to me to have a whole different “feel.” There are actually protected bike lines there, and the people just seemed happier, somehow.  My only moan about Seattle was that the coffee was too strong.

Victoria, British Columbia, shot straight up to No. 1 on my list of “Most Beautiful Places I’ve Ever Seen.” We walked about in a daze of delight. I didn’t know a place could be as beautiful as that. On the ferry chugging across to Vancouver, we saw a pod of orcas diving happily through the blue waters of Swartz Bay. Vancouver itself was mind-boggling:  I’ve never seen so many skyscrapers in my life, not even in Singapore or Beijing! Huge blue mountains sit grumpily behind the skyscrapers, upset at having their thunder stolen.

Back in Washington, we’re waiting to be affected by the insane shutdown.  Daughter-in-law will be among those affected, as she works for the government in downtown DC. She might take Miss Pink Cheeks to North Carolina to visit a friend for the duration.  Who knows what will happen?  But right now it doesn’t look good for the government staying open for business.

There should be a new TV series called “Madmen” about the House of Reps.

The morning seems very quiet after last night’s wind and rain. I’m hoping to go to the pool and still be here on time to get the new freezer delivered and continue the task of making the basement be less of a repository…..found the box of old soccer balls yesterday, and the manual typewriter RonK used in college.

All you Meese who get your healthcare through an employer should read the new (November) issue of Consumer Reports. There’s a lot of information I haven’t seen before about how the ACA works, especially important if you have several family members covered on the same plan.

    what I get for taking time off Friday.  Dr basically said “that’s it” on the foot – keep putting ointment on the scar but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t completely go away.  Scars are like that.  (I know.  I’m considerably older than the dr and I’m carrying a few from when I was younger than he is.)  Anyway, “Concerned Kitteh” is right – the shut down/melt down situation in DC is enough to concern anybody – and the only thing I can think of is a resolution to compel a clean bill to the floor – once there’s one on the floor of the House it will pass, it’s getting it there that’s the problem.  At least the weather here is great – rain Saturday afternoon, which we needed, and relatively cool (70s/50s) sunny days yesterday and today.  Got to get back to clearing up stuff piled on my desk.  {{{HUGS}}}

Sunny & warm but not hot.

So my eye doctor says there’s nothing wrong with my eye. He says I’m stressed & prescribed: 1) better sleep 2) a full-spectrum B supplement 3) a few days of vacation.

Bought vitamins, and when I get to work tomorrow, I’ll check the calendar & see when I can take some days off.

Right now I’m eating dinner & watching Castle. Waiting for new ep of Castle to come on later. I hope they don’t do that thing where they have to break the happy couple up — I want a fairy tale wedding.
