Wednesday Watering Hole: Check In & Hangout for the Herd

Good morning, Moosekind.

PLEASE Do Not Recommend the check-in diary!

Recs on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Prwdicted high around 90, but yesterday was a full 5 degrees hotter than predicted so who knows. Relative humidity 2437%.

    Give or take.

often since I’m usually up when check-in gets posted.

Right now I am in survival mode in my little sewing room grateful for the little portable AC unit I have. Just enough to cool this one room. The heat and humidity here is horrid and it’s not letting up for several days.

For those of you wandering in here in the morning, I hope you all have a very pleasant one.

Now, I am off to make more baby things and maybe go for a short walk in the moonlight while it’s not so blasted hot.

  3. It is 76 degrees here on its way up to 81. The forecast calls for heavy thunderstorms and 100% chance of precipitation. That sounds pretty unequivocal. None of that isolated or scattered stuff for us.

My dog is unhappy with the storms and has me up before I want to be. And the rain has brought … mosquitoes. 🙁

Short morning for me enblog. I need to find my IT muse and get some coding done today. PLEASE stay out of trouble all y’alls.

Have a round of appointments today – Chica puppy is not going to be happy since she’ll have to hang out in her new crate (which arrived yesterday) while I’m out and about.

Bwahahaha — so yesterday I told y’all how my twitter feed is full of Dublin restaurant lunch specials this time of day. Today they’re all saying how hot it is. I just googled the weather — it’s 69. Pre-dawn, our temperature was 70 with a heat index of 83. I really have to lose the weight, get in triathlon shape & get to that damn tri in August.

Got a club meeting tonight. Should be overrun with City Council candidates.

And of course I’m so sleepy I’ve nodded off 4 times writing this.

working on the annual report again – 1 more section and a set of numbers and then my part will be done.  Getting those few numbers is the problem – not sure when they’ll be available.  Oh well, still have that section to work on.  Keep as cool as possible in Moosylvania.

The breeze is cool and the crows are mercifully quiet so it’s a peaceful moment. I finally had my slow to heal broken toe xrayed and see the Dr. today re my options. I hope there is a fix and that I didn’t wait to long.

the 70-year-record of 97 degrees F. today. It’s ‘ot, ‘umid, and ‘orrible outside.

My mornings are far too busy, what with getting Miss Pink Cheeks up, dressed, groomed, and slathered with pasty white sun protection cream and white herbal insect repellent. Ugh!  But it’s an outdoor camp, so whatchugonnado.

Hoping to get some work done this morning. Dishwasher Guy is downstairs installing the new one, with Dearly Beloved superintending. DB has always done the dishes during our 46-year-marriage (except when ill or absent), so he naturally has a greater interest in the new dishwasher than I.

Going to put the finishing touches on “Out of the Sea,” my Litha story, work on Friday morning’s blog for orange, and put the finishing touches on our Litha ritual, which will honor the sun. As luck would have it I found three pieces on the Reclaiming chant CD that will do–“Lugh Return,” “Goddess of the Sun,” and the farewell chant.

Princesspat, hope you get a satisfactory diagnosis and remedy for your poor toe.

Have a good day everyone–will sign off recommending lavender-scented powder to feel better in the horrible humidity.
