The common Moose, Alces alces, unlike other members of the deer family, is a solitary animal that doesn’t form herds. Not so its rarer but nearest relative, Alces purplius, the Motley Moose. Though sometimes solitary, the Motley Moose herds in ever shifting groups at the local watering hole to exchange news and just pass the time.

    Headed for a high of 70 today before plummeting 40 degrees in a matter of hours amidst great atmospheric excitation and a severe T-storm or two.

    Tomorrow’s high? 33! Go home weather. You’re drunk.

    31 degrees here in Madison on its way down to 23 degrees. Overnight low 10 degrees then tomorrow and Friday back up into the 40s.

    You are right, iriti, the weather is drunk.

    in snow tomorrow but driving conditions on the way to work will not be good in sleet and icy rain.

    My far upstate NY friends are going to be buried again.

    The weather thing on my phone says 52, but it sure felt colder than that. Back to 70s by the weekend.

    I’m eating breakfast & drinking tea. You’ll be stunned to know I had an awful night’s sleep last night.

    And I’m realizing it’s the middle of March & I’ve done no fundraising for the Ride & I really need to fix that.

    Morning, Meese! Sorry so many people are getting snow with this latest blast from winter–not sure how we have managed to avoid it here. Back in 1990 it was 90 degrees on this day. I remember it because it happened to be my birthday, March 12. I went for a three-mile walk and thought summer had come!

    So now I’ve officially joined the ranks of “the elderly”–today I’m 70. Funny, one never feels as old as one actually is. 🙂 Just hope I live long enough to write all the books I want to write.

    I’m hearing birdsong and seeing tiny birds hopping around on the branches of our still-dormant apple trees. Little green spears of crocuses and daffodils are pushing their way through the flowerbeds, so that’s an encouraging sign.

    Managed to write a huge scene last night–was exhausted when I finished. One more scene to write and then I’ll let the story “cool” before I put the finishing touches on it.

    Yesterday afternoon the sun came out….and all the neighborhood dogs took their their humans to the park!

    It was nice to see a full sky sunset again.

    QC ran about an hour over as the usual suspects (3 of whom unfortunately are Dems) ranted about how the various department heads should follow orders about what they buy for their departments since we are THE COURT and WRITE THE BUDGET.  The fact that we should not be giving orders about what they buy (within the legal guidelines for governments) just how much they can spend isn’t just ignored – like any good fantasy-based elected official, they deny that it’s a fact.  I left early.  If this keeps up, I will probably leave early for all our Finance Committee meetings – as soon as we get through the stuff that actually has to be voted on in fact.  Sigh.

    Anyway – Happy Birthday Diana in NoVA – a “zero” birthday!  (That’s my next one but a few years out.)  Have some good wishes/energy on accomplishing all that you wish to accomplish in this life.
