Motley Monday Check in and Mooselaneous Musings

 photo iz-dis-fing-on_zpsa847a99a.jpg

Good morning Motley Meese! Hope your weekend was lovely. Sorry I missed the last couple of diaries. Wednesday my internet went walkabout and Friday my brain did. Sigh. It’s tough getting old.

PLEASE Don’t Recommend the check-in diary!

Fierces on the weather jar comment are still welcome.

The morning check-in is an open thread and general social hour. Come back when time allows through the day – the conversation continues.

It’s traditional but not obligatory to give us a weather check where you are and let us know what’s new, interesting, challenging or even routine in your life lately. Nothing is particularly obligatory here except:

Always remember the Moose Golden (Purple?) Rule:

Be kind to each other… or else.

What could be simpler than that, right?

Headed for a high of 58. Only supposed to go up to 42 tomorrow – a little weather whiplash scheduled for this week.

Further to the ‘Perils of Pauline’ aspect of my life lately my Mac won’t awaken this morning. So greetings from my new-new phone (which is quite similar to my old-new phone except for the part about not having been run over by a Jeep this weekend.)

    Happy Monday Meeses.

  2. It is 43 degrees here right now and the expected high is 40. Hmmm. I wonder how that works. Is NOW not considered part of today?? Anyway it also says chance of light snow this morning (at precisely 9:15am per my weather channel widget).

Today is Monday. That is all.

Well, not all. Today the Wisconsin Supreme Court will “hear” arguments about the constitutionality of Act 10, the law that effectively killed public employee unions in our state. The law which Scott Walker did not run on in 2010 but which he and his lackeys in the state legislature rammed down our throats as soon as he took office in 2011. That was the law that led to protests, Democratic state senators leaving the state, and recall elections. Unfortunately, the Republican majorities gerrymandered the legislature to favor themselves for the next 10 years so if the court strikes it down, they can just repass it with a few tweaks and simply start the clock ticking again.

I put “hear” in quotes because the court is Republican and they WILL rule in a partisan manner, not looking at the law or the constitution because that is how it works when unqualified hacks get on the court. Two of those hacks lied to get elected and got their wrists slapped. Another of those hacks tried to choke one of the more liberal justices … and did not even get a wrist slap because the justices who saw the incident had to recuse themselves … leaving no one to render judgment. Justice in that case was not only blind but pretty dumb (meaning #6) as well.

so I’ll have to wash those filthy kitchen rugs and dry them outside before it rains, snows, and blows tonight.

Sorry about the Mac, iriti! Hope you can get it up to speed again soon.

Jan, it sounds as if Wisconsin is screwed for years. How awful that the “Republics” gerrymandered and hacked themselves into positions of power for the known future.  It could happen in my state too.  Fortunately, Northern Virginia is full of “lib’ruls,” so if enough of us turn out and vote, it’s somewhat less likely.  But the state leg. is gerrymandered for the foreseeable future.

We took Miss Pink Cheeks out for breakfast yesterday–that was fun. Then I took Monty Beagle to a beagle meetup, which was also fun, except that as we were about to get into the car to go home, Monty decided to escape.  The owners of the dog boarding facility sprinted like lightning into the tall grass of the house next door and retrieved him, but oh, what a to-do!

Have decided that my contest entry for the NaNoWriMo is simply not interesting enough to justify further work on it–or at least, it’s not interesting enough to go for 50,000 words. Might make an okay 15,000-word novella. Next year I’ll put some thought into this well before November instead of deciding at the last minute to enter. I’m one of those that has to think of a plot and develop my characters beforehand, rather than just sitting down and letting ‘er rip.

Hope everyone will have a good day!

is a good one with Macs repaired, beagles not escaping, and justice for all.  It’s 43 meandering up to 53. Special thanks for Diana in NoVa for the tact and patience lessons!

Eating breakfast on my couch. Got a lot to do today. Am somewhat disturbed by the merging of Veteran’s Day with Memorial Day.

Today: cooking, mattress shopping (wow is my back stiff), gym.

It is chilly this morning, and going to get chillier. There are 2 nights this week where it is supposed to get into the 30s! Serious brrrr!

Anyway, have a good day. Current earworm: Rise up by U2.

and it won’t go to the hospital until next week when I can at least pay for the diagnostics.  Am pretty sure the problem is corrupted data on the HD but am clueless as to what it will take to fix it.  And no, Smartypants that I am, I never got around to buying an external HD, which I will do as son as I’m operational again.  At least I own a copy of the operating system and have a flash drive of my important stuff.

The weather widjet says it will be a clear day. I hope so!

My basement stuff shuffle is reaching critical mass…..one more set of shelves is empty, clean, and ready for the next step, which means editing and moving stuff from other shelves! I’ve been trying to keep the mess organized it getting away from me. Amazing what I’m finding as I move the layers.

    until the first few weeks of priority registration finish up – not enough upper division classes and way too many people who are not graduating May 2014 trying to get into them – so both tact and firmness are required.  That’s why they make us peons the gatekeepers, right?  Weather shifting tonight – low 50s last night and should get to mid 60s today, but the front will start moving through this evening – hard freeze (like in the teens) with sleet expected over night and highs maybe in the 40s tomorrow.  Not sure when I’ll be back (probably show up long enough to complain about the QC committee meetings this week) but everybody have as good a day as possible under whatever circumstances you’re under.  {{{HUGS}}}
