Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Jughead

Why is it so difficult for so many people to have compassion for faceless and nameless suffering? I mean, most people will help someone in front of them, or can feel bad for Captain Sullenberg who has taken a 40% pay cut and has lost his retirement. But they cannot pay attention to all of the good people losing their jobs and who are now teetering on the brink of oblivion.

In this same vein, on a more personal note, my mother’s brother has always been a strong fiscal conservative and republican. He and Mom have argued for years about politics. Six or so years ago, they were arguing about the the Patriot Act. He could not win the arguement with Mom, and in the end could only sputter an “oh you and your Constitution”. To which my mother, speechless in abject astonishment, was only able to muster an “it’s your Constitution too”. Which I am certain, fell on deaf ears.

Loony Toon Tubes (Mostly)

Are you excited about the Presidents address tonight? Hopefully we can have an open thread to discuss later. I have been waiting for the Day and here it is!

Tuesday February 24, 2009 in 100 seconds. Good God, is it almost March?

Pressure much?

I must say, I love Nora O’Donnell’s laugh.

Follow me after the fold, and you will receive the promised toons…

This Week in Tubes

Friday, February 20, 2009 in 100 seconds. I love TMPtv, but it is kind of sick that an entire day of highly paid news programs, channels and pundits can be reduced so effectively into 100 seconds. Why waste time, just check out TPMtv.

That was really nasty. I swear Pat had a hard on.

I have been bad again. Missing too many days in a row makes for long tube diaries. Oh well, here is Thursday February 19, 2009 in 100 seconds.

Oh I do love Canada. Don’t you?

Wednesday February 18, the day in 100 seconds.

Who the hell is Fluff and how old is she now?

Catch up Tubes

These are make-up tubes. I got behind last week and feel bad enough to post an addendum for anyone who wants to remember the week that was.

Wednesday February 11, 2009 in 100 seconds.

That actually sounds kinda good to me. Then write up more than three pages on what to do with the money.

Thursday February 12, 2009 in 100 seconds.

Ok, so maybe that was the reason for my lack of enthusiasm.

Not for Dinner Tubes

I have been lazy and missed quite a few DAYS. Sorry;~( I might post an addendum or bonus tubes or some such thing to catch up. All I have to say, is teh menopause is teh big suck. At least I have a bunch of great chocolate left over.

Anyway, here is Monday, February 16, in 100 seconds. Anybody else getting that tummy ache again or is it just cramps?

Hmmm. I think it just might be the diarrhea inducing media that has caused my intestinal uproar. Sometimes I wonder if they are all on meth or crack, but perhaps it is just the pathological response to working in a 24/7 news cycle.

Friday February 13, 2009 in 100 seconds brought to you by the fine folks at TMPtv. Do I give them enough kudos? I am not sure that is possible. Please show ’em some love, but be sure to mention us as well. I got an e-mail from one of the tube makers I use on a frequent basis. They like us and really appreciate me posting them here.

What is that lovely  Adlai E. Stevenson quote?

“I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends… that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them.”

My only question is, how do we get the media to start telling the truth about us?

What is that lovely saying, “I will stop telling the truth about you when you stop lying about me.” Paraphrasing of course, but you get the idea.

How Was Your Valentines Day?

Ours was a bit like the the Obama’s. Ani works on Saturday, and even though it was a bit of a rush, we had a wonderful evening. Oh, and lots and lots of chocolate was exchanged, but no buildings were actually scaled.

Love is a scary thing sometimes. How do we know when it really is love? Jib Jab has a couple of peas explain.
