Since 2008 – Progress Through Politics

Do You Have a Case of the Muundays? Tubing Might Help.

Today is the first day that it really hit me. We have a President for the first time in eight long years. On one hand, this realization gives me a great deal of pleasure and very real feeling of trust and security. On the other hand, the great morass that awaits President Obama is giving me an extremely a sick feeling in my tummy. I wonder how he feels?

Monday January 26, 2009. The day in 100 seconds.

Moosiness

How long have you been sitting out there reading this and other blogs? Have you ever spoken up? Would you like to participate in one of these political websites?

Years ago I would check in with Kos and read the front page. I never really considered getting involved. I did not have a computer at home, and would occasionally surf whenever I had free time at work.

After purchasing a computer a few years ago, I began to take more interest in what the internet has to offer. This brought me back to Kos, Salon, Politico and so on. Kos was too big for me to feel safe to post. Additionally, I found that I did not care much for the tone there any longer. I finally found MyDD in late 2007 and felt at home there for much of the primaries.

Thank God the Grownups are Here

Finally, the drapes are ripped open and the cobwebs are being swept up and checked out. And a new feeling of openness is in the air.

Ooop! So not everyone is happy. Why is John Cornyn holding up Eric Holder’s nomination again?

I really wish someone would make me a picture of all of them in their future orange onesies and encased in leg and waist irons. Set to music. Oh hell, make me like musicals, and do a freaking Broadway show of the future bush chain gang.

Will My Tubes Survive Competent Government?

Olbermann mentioned that bush took over a 1000 days of vacation over the past eight years. This works out to fully one third of his pseudo presidency.

Do you get the impression that times are a changing? I only hope that President Obama knows when to take a break.

Talk about hitting the ground running. I do wonder what the shrub said to President Obama in that note.

It will serve us well to remember all that bush has left us. We must face this, so it can never happen again.

Checking In

Tuesday January 20, 2009 was a very good day. It was joyous and uplifting, moving and sobering. I must say that hearing Pat Buchanan compare President Obama’s speech to Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy and (gasp) Ronald Reagan was a rather surreal moment for me.

It was so odd to me, that I wondered to my best friend Eric, whether I had died and gone to heaven. To which he responded, that perhaps I had actually died eight years ago, and have been living in hell. That stopped me in my tracks and was so very pleased when I woke up this fine morning and it is January 21, 2009. Barack Obama is the President of these United States of America, and my fears of waking to some sort of hideous version of Groundhog Day did not materialize.

Bye, Bye bush Tubes

I am on pins and needles waiting for tomorrow. In some ways I just want it over, but am reveling in the excitement leading up to the swearing in. I have been extraordinarily busy this past week, and also have not been able to post or even read many diaries. I decided to try to break out of this block by posting some silliness. I hope you enjoy.

Free At Last! Free At Last! In Less Than 48 Hours We Will Be Free From George W Bush At Last! Terry O’Sullivan

Kinda says it all. The tube is long, but O’Sullivan gives one hell of a speech, so it is worth the nine+ minutes.

Tubely Diversions

I am filled with such a wide expanse of feelings today. This week has been personally difficult, triumphant (the first of many to come), exhausting, and unimanginably interesting. I have started at least ten diaries (which I cannot finish), and have been unable to comment on, or even read many of the latest posts.

Oh and Barack Hussein Obama will be sworn in as our President on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. And my joy and anxiety are propelled exponentially. I have even worried that the shrub would die before the transfer of power and Cheney would complete the final stage of the coup (yeah, I am that freaking crazy!)

So, what to do…what to do? Aha! Let’s make fun of someone who is even crazier than me :~D So on with the show and this is for you Ann, you obscene, but oddly wonderful, little psychopath.

Cold Days and Therapuitic Blogging

As many of you know, I live in northern Minnesota. I absolutely adore this area and usually cannot imagine living anywhere else. However, that does not mean I always like it up here in the northland. I must say I was rather amused listening to reporters complain about not feeling their feet during the Inageration. Dude, come to Minnesota, and you will no longer have feet.

I was embarrassed that Sarah Palin was initially so popular in Minnesota and am deeply ashamed that we are returning Michele Backmann to Congress this year. Jesse Ventura was pretty hard to take (for me), but you gotta admit he was interesting. As we are also the home of such political legends as Paul Wellstone, Hubert Humphrey, Eugene McCarthy, and Walter Mondale; I suppose we are allowed a few nutballs.

Lately I have been complaining a great deal about the weather. We are actually experiencing a fairly normal Minnesota winter, but because we have had almost a decade of unusually warm winters, the fact that temps around here have not exceeded freezing for almost 10 weeks, is getting very, very old.

Tubing into Next Week

Friday January 9, 2009 in 100 seconds. Oy.

Hopefully, not for long.

Just in case you missed any of the Headzup toons this past week. Ta da!

I am hopelessly in love with Headzup and TMPtv.
